Arne Slot expresses confidence in Liverpool's ability to achieve 'special things' against PSG in their upcoming Champions League match. Liverpool faces a 2-0 deficit from the first leg but believes they can overcome the challenge.
Arne Slot backs his Liverpool side to do āspecial thingsā against PSG
Liverpool head into a decisive European night with confidence, clarity and a manager who understands exactly what is required. Under Arne Slot, the message is simple, grounded in evidence rather than emotion, and built on what this team has already achieved.
Facing Paris Saint-Germain after a 2-0 first leg deficit, Liverpool know the margin is clear. The challenge is equally obvious, yet far from beyond them.
Slot has not overcomplicated the narrative. He has reminded his players of the facts and the opportunity. Speaking ahead of the clash, he said:
āThere is a belief we can do special thingsā
He expanded on that belief with a measured explanation:
āFirst of all remind them what the score was ā that it was 2-0. It felt completely different, as we all know, but the end result was 2-0. Second of all we have shown so many times in big games this season that we are able to get a great performance.
āWe have also shown a completely different face, I am completely aware of that, but many of our games that we have played were very good as well. Especially in big games.
āIn the 49 home games we have played [under me] 36 times we were able to score two goals or more. Yes, we have not played all these 49 games against Paris St-Germain, I realise that, but the Premier League and Champions League opponents we had were very strong.
āSo yes there is a belief we can do special things tomorrow but we need to be very, very, very special tomorrow to achieve that. We are playing the champions of Europe so that makes the task more difficult but not impossible.ā

Statistics often tell part of the story, and in Liverpoolās case, the numbers at Anfield are difficult to ignore. Scoring two or more goals in 36 of 49 home matches under Slot points to a side that thrives in familiar surroundings.
It also reflects a tactical identity that has quickly taken hold since his arrival. Liverpool play with intent, tempo and a willingness to take risks in key moments. Against PSG, that approach will need to be executed with precision.
The Premier League title win in 2024 to 25 has already validated Slotās methods. European nights now present another stage to reinforce that progress.
There is no disguising the scale of the task. PSG arrive as champions of Europe, carrying both pedigree and experience. For Liverpool, the margin for error is minimal.
Yet, knockout football often rewards belief as much as structure. Slotās comments suggest a manager who understands both the emotional and tactical demands of the occasion.
Liverpool will need intensity from the first whistle, control in midfield, and clinical finishing. A 2-0 deficit can be overturned, but only with sustained pressure and composure in decisive moments.
Liverpool is currently trailing PSG 2-0 after the first leg of their Champions League matchup.
Arne Slot is the manager of Liverpool, and he expects his team to perform exceptionally well and achieve 'special things' in the upcoming match against PSG.
Liverpool needs to overcome a 2-0 deficit in the second leg to advance in the Champions League, which requires a strong performance and strategic execution.
