After FC Porto’s announcement last week that Jakub Kiwior has joined the club permanently, Arsenal finally broke their silence on the news this morning.
Posting on the club website, Arsenal wrote: “Jakub Kiwior’s move to Porto has now become permanent following the Dragaos’ Liga Portugal title triumph last weekend.”
What was unusual is that the news was broken in a loan watch roundup post, rather than in its own news or social media post – as is more commonplace.

Porto’s confirmation revealed that they’d activated their option to buy, signing Kiwior on a long-term contract to 2030.
Porto announced that the deal involves a fixed fee of €17m, plus another €5m in potential add-ons, and Arsenal also retain a fixed €2m sell-on clause (meaning that if Porto ever sell Kiwior, they’ll owe the Gunners an extra €2m, regardless of the sale price).
Arsenal also received a €2m loan fee from Porto last summer, so the deal therefore has a maximum value to Arsenal of €26m (£22.5m). The Gunners signed Kiwior for €20m (then £17.6m) in 2023.

As mentioned by Arsenal, Kiwior recently won the Liga Portugal with Porto, which is perhaps what prompted the club to start moving on their summer transfer business, including making the loanee’s move permanent.
The club have two further league games before beginning their summer holidays, but they’ll be in party mode having wrapped up the title early.
Kiwior made 68 appearances for Arsenal across two-and-a-half seasons, before spending the 2025/26 campaign playing 38 times for Porto (so far). He won the Community Shield during his time in north London.
Arsenal confirmed Jakub Kiwior's transfer in a manner that was described as unusual.
The transfer involves Jakub Kiwior moving permanently from Arsenal to FC Porto.
The specifics of what makes the confirmation unusual have not been detailed in the announcement.
