Vakhitov’s opinion carries clear weight given his direct experience against Pereira and his recent involvement with Gane’s training environment.
Speaking to Emiel Sardarean, he admitted his initial doubts shifted after seeing Gane up close in Paris, leading to a strong prediction in the Frenchman’s favour.
“Well, to be honest, before we came to Paris, I had some doubts. Now, when we worked with Ciryl, I saw how everything is organized in the team, how the process is going, what form he’s in and I can say that my opinion has changed a bit now, in the opposite direction,” he began by saying.
“I can say that it is a 70/30 fight [in favour of Gane]. Of course, Ciryl has an advantage. The main thing is that he still has everything: speed, endurance, thinking, classic kickboxing, the feeling of distance.
“The only thing that remains is his mentality. If he goes out being angry, aggressive in this fight, then he will succeed.”

Vakhitov also pointed to Pereira’s physical changes as a key variable heading into the fight.
He suggested the Brazilian’s added weight could help in wrestling exchanges, but may not benefit his striking, which remains his primary strength.
That contrast could favour Gane, a natural heavyweight more accustomed to operating at the division’s demands.
