The Boston Red Sox entered the season after making major organizational changes, including moving on from former manager Alex Cora and several members of the coaching staff. Boston could also be active at the trade deadline if the season continues to trend in the wrong direction.
One player to watch is Jarren Duran, as the Red Sox outfield remains crowded with too many players competing for playing time. Duran is increasingly viewed as the odd man out.
âWhen Jarren Duran is at his best, he is a dynamic player who can change a lineup at the top. He hasn't gotten hot yet, but has started to show signs. Since Cora was fired, Duran has had a much more consistent role. The Red Sox still have a logjam in the outfield. Duran was the guy who popped up the most in trade rumors this past offseason. If there is a deal to be made, Duran still seems like the odd man out,â SIâs Patrick McAvoy wrote.
A potential landing spot for Duran could be the Houston Astros. Houston has an infielder in who could be an intriguing fit for Boston.

âThe Boston Red Sox's outfield logjam has been a story for over a year at this point. Boston has five talented outfielders and Jarren Duran seems like the most likely to go. The Astros need a boost in the outfield and have multiple infield bats that could help Boston, including Carlos Correa and Isaac Paredes. Both of these clubs are struggling but have something the other needs. Maybe there is a common ground to be found,â McAvoy wrote.
Duran has consistently appeared in trade rumors over the last year, while Paredes has also generated speculation as a possible trade candidate. This type of deal makes sense on paper because both teams have needs that the other player could help address.
For Houston, Duranâs $7.7 million contract is financially manageable, and a fresh start with a team that can offer him more consistent playing time could benefit both sides. A change of scenery may be exactly what Duran needs to regain his form and confidence.
