Auburn baseball defeated Florida 8-5, completing a comeback from a 3-0 deficit. This victory marks Auburn's third consecutive SEC series win.
The No. 11 Auburn Tigers wrapped up its road series at No. 18 Florida with a massive 8-5 win to claim its third-straight SEC series, and its fourth overall.
The Tigers erased an early 3-0 deficit by tying the game at 3-3 in the 8th inning, and closed the game with a five-run surge in the 9th inning. A throwing error pushed the Tigers ahead, 4-3, with zero outs, and a Brandon McCraine double scored Lucas Steele and Ethin Bingaman to create even more separation. The dagger came off the bat of Mason McCraine, who scored two runs on his third home run of the series to give the Tigers an 8-3 lead. Florida answered on a two-out solo home run by Blake Cyr, but the comeback effort was not enough, and the Gators dropped a home series to the visiting Auburn Tigers.
Auburn owned the hit advantage, 9-5, with Mason McCraine and Chris Rembert each recording two. Alex Petrovic got out of a three-run deficit and ended his outing with five strikeouts over seven innings. Ryan Hetzler earned the win in relief by allowing just two runs on two hits over the final two innings of work.
The Tigers are now 27-12, and 10-8 in SEC play. Auburn heads to Hoover next week to face Samford at the Hoover Met on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT, which will be an appetizer for next weekend's SEC series against Oklahoma at Plainsman Park.
