One of the nation's top quarterbacks and a key Auburn target is ready to announce his commitment.

Will Mencl, a four-star quarterback from Chandler, Arizona, will announce his commitment on Wednesday, April 22, and Auburn is among the final schools in the running to land his signature. Auburn is in a battle with Oregon and Penn State for Mencl's pledge.

Mencl recapped a recent visit to Auburn with Rivals by mentioning his relationship with Auburn offensive coordinator Joel Gordon and a meeting that went particularly well.

“It was a family feel,” Mencl said in an interview with Rivals. “I enjoyed my time there. I was in a meeting with the OC Joel Gordon for an hour and then we went to lunch and came back for another two hours and it felt like only 15 minutes had passed. He’s someone that is super easy to learn from. Coach (Alex) Golesh is a great person. Had really good conversations with him.”

Mencl will announce his commitment on the Rivals YouTube page at 6:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, April 22. Should Mencl commit to Auburn, he would be the third of Auburn's 2027 haul, joining defensive lineman Donivan Moore and tight end George Lamons.
