Auburn Tigers have signed 7-foot-1 center Bukky Oboye from Santa Clara. This addition aims to enhance their roster's height for the upcoming season.
Steven Pearl and the Auburn Tigers have signed their first transfer of the offseason, and it is a big addition. Former Santa Clara Broncos center Bukky Oboye signed with the Tigers on Friday.
Oboye is listed at 7-foot-1 and will add some much-needed height to their roster for next season. After their tallest regular last season was 6-foot-10, the Tigers are now expected to have at least two regulars standing over 7-feet, with French 7-footer Narcisse Ngoy already signed.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Bukky Oboye into the Auburn Family,” Pearl said. “He’s one of the most physically gifted prospects you’ll find – an elite runner and leaper with rare size who impacts the game at the rim on both ends of the floor at such a high level.”
Oboye is coming off a breakout season at Santa Clara, starting 34 games and averaging 7.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game. He scored in double figures 11 times, including a career-high 22 points against Nevada.
“What stands out even more than his tools is his growth,” Pearl said. “He’s shown improvements every single day, and the more he plays the better he becomes. If Bukky stays on the path he’s been on, he has a chance to be a very special player on the Plains.”
He helped lead Santa Clara to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to the Kentucky Wildcats in the first round. Limited to 17 minutes due to foul trouble, he finished the game with six points, two rebounds, and one block. He averaged 9.0 points and 5.3 rebounds in their three games against Gonzaga.
Oboye redshirted as a freshman before cracking the rotation as a redshirt freshman during the 2024-25 season, before taking a major step forward last season. He played in 61 games at Santa Clara, averaging 5.1 points and 2.8 rebounds, and 50 blocks, 40 of which came last season. He will have two seasons of eligibility for the Tigers.
