In a response shared via Ballislife on X, Rivers delivered a detailed and direct rebuttal.
āI was ranked No. 1, you were ranked I donāt know. You were a really good college player, but itās hard to compare because I was only there for 6 months. Something you could never do,ā Rivers said.
āYou are the luckiest basketball player I have ever seen. You were drafted to a franchise with a Hall of Fame office, Hall of Fame coach, the greatest shooter of all-time and perhaps top 5 all-time, another top 5 shooter and Hall of Famer,ā he added.
The response was aimed squarely at Greenās earlier jab, where he questioned Riversā career and even mocked his high school peak.

Instead of backing down, Rivers leaned into his own resume, highlighting his No. 1 high school ranking while flipping the narrative toward Greenās situation in Golden State.
Rivers did not stop there, continuing with an even more pointed critique, ā⦠Another Hall of Famer, not to mention one of the most lethal scorers of all-time and arguably top 10 player of all-time, Kevin Durant, the same guy you chased off because of your mouth. You talk too much.
āYou are the backpack jumpshooter. The guy everyone leaves open. No one guards you. There are hours and hours of film of you being left open⦠talking about Steve Kerr hindered your career. Steve Kerr made your career,ā Rivers concluded.
The exchange stems from a larger disagreement. Rivers initially criticized Green for saying Steve Kerr limited his offensive potential, calling that idea āridiculous.ā
Green responded by questioning Riversā credibility, even bringing up his high school career and suggesting that was when he peaked.
The feud has also highlighted how differently both careers are viewed. Green has built a Hall of Fame resume with multiple championships, while Rivers has taken on a more journeyman role before transitioning into media.
And at this point, it is no longer just about basketball. It is about pride, perception, and who really had the better path in the league.
