Columbus Aviators head coach Ted Ginn Jr. was arrested by Euless Police Department and booked into Tarrant County jail Saturday under the name Theodore Ginn, Tarrant County Sheriff’s office spokesperson Robbie Hoy told The Dallas Morning News. Ginn was released the same day.
He is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated. Ginn was stopped at 12:58 a.m. for traffic violations at 100 West Euless Boulevard and an officer conducted a DWI investigation, Euless police spokesperson Brenda Alvarado told The News. He was subsequently arrested, she said.
Ginn's team is set to face off with the Dallas Renegades on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Frisco's Toyota Stadium.
UFL president and CEO Russ Brandon said in a statement to The Columbus Dispatch that Ginn won't coach in Sunday's game and offensive coordinator Todd Haley will assume head coaching duties against the Renegades.
Ginn was named the head coach of the UFL's Columbus Aviators in Dec. 2025 despite having no prior experience as a head coach. He spent 14 years as a wide receiver in the NFL before announcing his retirement in 2021.
