Columbus Aviators head coach Ted Ginn Jr. was arrested for DWI in Tarrant County, Texas, just before his 41st birthday and a UFL game. He failed a field sobriety test and was released on a $1,000 bond, with offensive coordinator Todd Haley stepping in as head coach.
Over the weekend, Columbus Aviators head coach Ted Ginn Jr. was arrested for DWI one day before his 41st birthday. Ginnās arrest in Tarrant County, Texas, also came one day before a UFL game between the Aviators and Dallas Renegades.
He reportedly failed a field sobriety test after being stopped by police around 1:00 a.m. local time for failing to yield on a turn. Ginn was released on $1,000 bond.
Following Ginnās arrest, the Aviators announced that offensive coordinator Todd Haley would handle head coaching duties for the 0-3 Aviators.

On Sunday morning, before the Aviatorsā loss to Dallas, Ginn took to social media to issue an apology for his arrest.
āI want to address the situation that took place over the weekend. I made a serious mistake and take full responsibility for my actions,ā Ginn wrote on X. āIāve always believed in accountability, and now itās my turn to live that standard. I understand the responsibility that comes with being a leader and role model, and falling short of this is not something I take lightly.
āIām committed to learning from this, making better decisions, and earning back the trust of my players, our organization, and the fans. I appreciate the support of my family and the United Football League, and I respect the process as it moves forward. My focus now is on taking the necessary steps to grow from this and represent the Columbus Aviators and this community the right way.ā
The 41-year-old Ginn was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft after starring at Ohio State, and played for six teams throughout his 14-year career. Ginn had stints with the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Chicago Bears.
