Badgers stars named standouts at NBA Draft Combine

The 2026 NBA Draft Combine is underway this week, and the Wisconsin Badgers saw both of their former star guards in attendance, as Nick Boyd and John Blackwell both looked to compete and raise their draft stock.

Players took their measurements and underwent a variety of drills, but the biggest part of the week was the scrimmages, and both Blackwell and Boyd were named as standouts by various evaluators.

Blackwell participated in the first scrimmage and put up 16 points on 6 of 11 from the field, including 2 of 4 from three. He also had five rebounds, four turnovers, and one assist.

ESPN’s Jonathan Givony lauded Blackwell’s performance, specifically for his ability to play through contact, make shots, and bring toughness defensively. Multiple people pointed out Blackwell’s defensive intensity, as well as his scoring chops.

Blackwell’s week started on an interesting note, as he measured in with a wingspan of only 6’2 1/4”, despite standing at 6’3 1/4” barefoot. But he did put together a quality performance in the scrimmages and has given scouts more to think about as he decides whether to stay in the draft or return to college to play for the Duke Blue Devils next season.
