Baltimore Orioles Announce Trevor Rogers News on Wednesday
It looked like the Baltimore Orioles found their new ace last season, but this year has painted a different picture.
The Orioles acquired the New Mexico native from the Miami Marlins in 2024, and he went 9-3 with a 1.81 ERA over 18 starts last season. However, he's 2-3 with a 4.75 ERA over six starts so far this year, and now he's not healthy.

The Orioles recalled right-handed pitcher Cameron Foster from Triple-A Norfolk and put Rogers on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to Sunday. The latter player has an illness, but the club hasn't clarified what the illness is, per The Baltimore Sun's Jacob Calvin Meyer.

Although it's handy to have a starting pitcher log a sub-2.00 ERA, it was always unlikely that Rogers would sustain that production. The 2021 All-Star began the season with three quality starts, but he's allowed 13 runs (12 earned) over 11.1 innings in the last three.
With Rogers now out for the time being, needs the rest of its pitching staff to pick up the slack. One player who must take advantage of his opportunity is Foster, who has logged a 6.35 ERA over four appearances. The 27-year-old most recently threw two scoreless frames in a 10-3 win over the on Friday.
Trevor Rogers is currently not healthy, as announced by the Baltimore Orioles.
Last season, Trevor Rogers had a record of 9-3 with a 1.81 ERA over 18 starts.

Foster was taken by the New York Mets in 14th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, who traded him to the Orioles last July. The right-hander made his big-league debut in Baltimore's 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on April 16, in which he threw 1.2 scoreless innings.
Foster, who is 13-11 with a 3.94 ERA over 85 career minor-league outings (26 starts), could make it hard for Baltimore to send him back down if he becomes a consistently reliable option out of the bullpen. At 14-15, the Orioles need all the pitching help they can get.
Meanwhile, starting pitchers Kyle Bradish (1-3, 4.20 ERA), Shane Baz (1-2, 4.50 ERA), and Chris Bassitt (1-2, 6.75 ERA) must improve their production in Rogers' and Dean Kremer's (quadriceps) absences. On the bright side, Baz allowed just one run over 5.2 innings in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Houston Astros.
Baltimore will host Houston in a doubleheader on Thursday, as Wednesday's game was rained out. Bassitt will start the first game and right-hander Brandon Young (2-0, 2.53 ERA) will start the second, per The Baltimore Sun's Matt Weyrich.
