Barcelona eyeing Tottenham defender as a backup option for Alessandro Bastoni

The Argentine international has already became a mainstay in the Spurs defence, impressing onlookers with his ability to read the game and lead from the front.

This makes him an ideal option for Barcelona, who are looking to find a replacement for Inigo Martinez. Although Romero is a right-footed defender, he can still become useful addition to the team, thanks to his experience and leadership.

What makes Romero a particularly intriguing option for Barcelona is Romero’s situation at Tottenham, who are battling relegation.

If the Lilywhites do get relegated, Romero is certain to leave North London and could be available on a cut-price deal, thus making it an excellent market opportunity for Barça.

Romero is not the only Spurs player on Barcelona’s radar either, with the Catalans also keeping tabs on his defensive partner Micky van de Ven, who is a left-footed defender.

Barcelona are also reportedly interested in the services of other Spurs stars such as Xavi Simons, Lucas Bergvall and Pedro Porro.
