According to SPORT, the Catalan giants remain fully committed to the idea of signing the Argentine forward, who has been identified as the club’s top attacking priority.

However, despite this strong interest, there is a growing acceptance within the club that negotiations will not be straightforward, especially given Atletico Madrid’s position.

Nothing is ruled out

At this stage, the player himself has not ruled out any scenario. This means His future remains open, which gives Barcelona a glimmer of hope.

The outlet even mentions that contacts between his representatives and Barça’s sporting department have been ongoing since the start of the season.

These interactions have been deliberately kept discreet, as both parties are keen to prevent any tension with Atletico Madrid.

The Madrid-based side are unwilling to entertain any negotiations with a direct rival and are determined to keep control of the situation.

“There is no negotiation possible, Julian is non-transferable,” a source told SPORT.

Reports suggest that someone within the sporting commission, who maintains a good relationship with Mateu Alemany, could eventually lead the process.

However, this remains speculative and has not yet evolved into a concrete plan.

More problems for Barcelona

Meanwhile, Atletico are not just playing defence, they are actively working to secure Alvarez’s long-term future.

The club is preparing a renewal offer and believes it can convince the forward by emphasising his importance to the project and the team’s growth trajectory.

That said, they are fully aware of the ongoing interest from Barcelona and other clubs.
