Barcelona pushing for full Camp Nou capacity next season amid roof installation uncertainty
Barcelona’s return to the Camp Nou has been a boon for the club, to say the least.
But the process is far from done and the club are still navigating a complex set of decisions surrounding the stadium’s continued renovation.
According to RAC1, Barcelona have formally requested permission from the municipality to open the third tier of the Camp Nou in three phases
The club’s intention is to host some matches next season in front of a fully packed stadium.
The roof installation is scheduled to begin next year, once the main stadium structure is complete.
Barcelona still believe it is possible to complete the roof within four months, targeting the end of next season as the deadline.
However, that four-month window will force the team to relocate at the start of the 2027/28 season, and Barcelona are already preparing contingency plans.

If the displacement is short-term, the club are considering temporarily moving to the Johan Cruyff Stadium, with capacity increased to around 10,000 spectators.
Should the delay prove more significant, a return to Montjuic remains an option.
Ideally, though, Barcelona would like to avoid returning to Montjuic due to logistical and regulatory challenges, and if the return is not delayed, Johan Cruyff appears to be the best solution.
Meanwhile, seating work is expected to be completed next year, with full stadium occupancy at Spotify Camp Nou projected for April 2027, according to technical reports.

From then on, the venue will operate at full capacity, although access to the Third Tier will be introduced gradually. This phased rollout will begin with the opening of the two rings of VIP boxes as they are finished.
If everything goes according to plan, the complete remodelling of the stadium should be wrapped up by October.
