Barcelona told club could commit ‘robbery’ with Rashford transfer
Rio Ferdinand has said Barcelona would be committing a ‘robbery’ if the club sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United for £26m.
Rashford scored a brilliant free-kick as Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-0 to seal La Liga title success on Sunday. The 28-year-old’s goal was the 14th of his loan spell with the Spanish champions, having joined on a season-long deal last summer.
Barcelona are yet to commit to a permanent transfer, despite Rashford expressing a desire to stay at the Camp Nou.
Ferdinand said he cannot understand Barcelona’s hesitancy to sanction what would represent a bargain deal.
“If Barcelona get Rashford for the reported £26M that we’re talking about, that is an absolute robbery,” Ferdinand told Rio Ferdinand Presents.
“What a loan signing he’s been for Barcelona. Would you have that Marcus Rashford back? 100%, but I think that ship is sailed.
“I think deep down he wants to STAY at Barcelona and I just hope that actually materializes for him.”
