The biggest question facing every WNBA team in training camp
WNBA training camps open with key questions for each team.
Barcelona's Gavi has quickly reestablished himself in the team after returning from injury, impressing with his performance against Espanyol. His rapid integration into Hansi Flick's plans could be crucial for the upcoming match against Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona’s recent injury returnee could hold the key against Atletico Madrid
Not many would have expected Gavi to integrate himself into Hansi Flick’s plans half as swiftly as he has following his return from injury. The Barcelona youngster, however, has exceeded all expectations.
While it seemed like his integration would be a gradual and long-drawn process, the La Masia graduate is already making a strong case to be a regular starter under Flick.
In fact, he even made his first start of the season against Espanyol at the weekend and looked surprisingly sharp despite being out of action for a long time.
As relayed by SPORT in a recent report, Gavi could be vital in Barcelona’s pursuit of a comeback against Atletico Madrid tomorrow night, especially given how he has played a key part in the team’s last two games.
Having played 45 and 64 minutes against Atletico Madrid and Espanyol, respectively, the youngster made it clear that he is still well in touch and in good physical shape. Moreover, he showed that he has Flick’s trust.

Frenkie de Jong is unlikely to start given his minimal involvement at the weekend, and Marc Bernal is still unfit, leaving Flick with limited options in midfield.
Eric Garcia, moreover, is likely to move to defence, leaving a massive void alongside Pedri.
Gavi, needless to say, could well start in the pivot alongside Pedri and provide the stability in midfield, especially given his work rate and contribution to the press.
Another alternative role he can play on the night is on the left wing, where Raphinha is still unavailable. Marcus Rashford is the favourite to replace him, but Gavi could well feature in the role to add dynamism.
Even if Gavi does not start, it is very likely that he will be called off the bench for a cameo and can help the team, whatever the game situation. What Flick decides is the best role for him, needless to say, will be interesting to see.
Gavi has exceeded expectations by quickly integrating back into the team and even starting against Espanyol, showing impressive sharpness.
Gavi's recent performances suggest he could play a significant role in strengthening Barcelona's lineup against Atletico Madrid.
Gavi's return has allowed Hansi Flick to potentially adjust his tactics, as the young midfielder is making a strong case for a regular starting position.
