Newcastle United have informed Arsenal and other suitors that it would take €90 million to sign Anthony Gordon this summer, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg. The Emirates Stadium club are known admirers of the England international and Gunners manager Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his attack heading into next season. Gordon is a wanted man with his Newcastle future in doubt, and Bayern Munich already in talks over a deal, while Liverpool and Barcelona are also interested in his services. The attacker has featured in recruitment planning meetings at Arsenal but it remains to be seen whether a concrete move is on the cards.
The Bundesliga club are unwilling to pay up to €90m for the Newcastle star and Arsenal and others are also unlikely to be keen on meeting the Magpies’ demands. However, it is believed around €75m/€85m could be enough to get the an initial deal done, while add-ons will be included. Gordon is expected to leave the St. James’ Park club for where regular Champions League football is guaranteed. The 25-year-old also wants to be competing for major silverware every season, and Arsenal will be offering him that opportunity.
