Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer holds talk over new contract
Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer could be set for a new contract at the German club.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper joined Bayern in the summer of 2011 and is nearing 600 appearances for the club across all competitions.
Neuer is still the first-choice goalkeeper under Vincent Kompany, although Jonas Urbig has done a great job as his deputy.
Christian Falk has told CFBayern Insider that Thomas Kroth, advisor to Neuer was at SĂ€bener StraĂe to hold discussions over a new contract.
Initial negotiations for a new contract for the goalkeeper until 2027 took place, and the German legend has indicated that he wants to continue next season.
Neuer is one of Bayernâs highest earners at around âŹ20m, and it remains to be seen how Bayern plan to use him.
Earlier this month Falk reported:
âIt is TRUE: Manuel Neuer is currently leaning towards signing a contract extension with Bayern Munich. This is what weâve heard internally inside the club. Everyone is really positive that the 40-year-old will sign a one-year contract extension. He also spoke after the semi-final with Bayer Leverkusen, mentioning that he doesnât want to announce anything just yet, but perhaps he has a good feeling for the next season. That means a lot when Neuer says something like this, because he normally keeps quiet on such topics. Now, everybody is hoping that heâll join Bayern Munich for another season. This is, from what Iâve heard, one of the arguments for not playing in the upcoming World Cup, as Manuel Neuer knows heâs 40 years of age, so his body needs a bit of rest in the summer. If he were to feature in the tournament, it would be very difficult to then be fit for the entirety of the 2026/27 season.â

Falk previously told us that Urbig is happy to be remain as Neuerâs deputy for one more season.
Urbig is seen as a long-term replacement for Neuer, but Bayern probably will not need a new keeper if Neuer stays on.
Bart Verbruggen has been linked with a move to Bayern, but they are not interested in him. Rather, they are interested in Marvin SchwÀbe (FC Köln) and Daniel Heuer Fernandes (Hamburg SV), who could play behind Urbig.
