Bayern Munich News: Tottenham Hotspur to keep João Palhinha?; Hiroki Itō on the move this summer?; and MORE!

Spurs will make a final decision on the Portugal international’s future after the season ends, but are already putting plans in place for the transfer window.

“I thought Palhinha would be an excellent signing for Tottenham,” Brown told Football Insider. “After what he showed at Fulham, earning that move to Bayern Munich, I expected him to come back in and show that again at Tottenham. I must admit, that has not gone to plan for him or for Tottenham. Every time I listen to pundits speaking about him, they tear him apart.

“Jamie Carragher, for example, said he hasn’t got the quality to play in the Premier League, and I thought that was harsh based on the things I’ve seen. But from Tottenham’s point of view, they can’t listen to what pundits are saying, they’re going to make a decision about him at the end of the season. If they stay in the Premier League, I’m sure he will want to make the move, and the manager will assess his squad to see what they can do.

“From what I’ve heard, they’ve already been in negotiations behind the scenes, maybe to bring the price down or find a deal that suits them a bit better. So with Tottenham at the moment you just have to wait and see, but they have to make decisions based on their own views, not those of people outside the club.” This seems like a situation where Tottenham could be inclined to keep Palhinha if the price is right. At this point for Bayern Munich, the player has no future with the club, so there could be some flexibility with the price. Given that Bayern Munich paid €55 million for Palhinha, he will go down as one of the biggest transfer busts in the history of the club.

Gunners eyeing Osimhen (ESPN)

Arsenal might have its eyes on Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen:

Arsenal are watching the situation of Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, Diario AS reports. Arsenal reportedly sent sporting director Andrea Berta to scout several players at last weekend’s Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. Osimhen has 20 goals in 31 games across all competitions this, although winger Baris Alper Yilmaz and goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakir are also reported to be on the Premier League club’s radar. Osimhen is just always in the transfer rumor mill. That has to be an exhausting way to live.

Leeds, Hammers, Brighton eyeing Itō (The Yorkshire Post)

Hiroki Itō’s time at Bayern Munich has been marred by injuries and now there seems to be at least some possibility that the Bavarians are ready to move on from the Japanese defender. If so, Leeds United, West Ham United, and Brighton & Hove Albion would be interested:

Leeds United are among the clubs said to be enquiring about the availability of Bayern Munich defender Hiroki Ito. The 26-year-old has been on the books of Bayern since 2024, when a reported €30m (£26m) was paid to prise him from Stuttgart.

According to SportsBoom, Leeds are among those eyeing Ito with the summer transfer window just around the corner. Bayern are not believed to have placed Ito on the transfer list, although it has been suggested they will be open to offers.

West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion have also been linked with the Japan international, who plays with Leeds midfielder Ao Tanaka on the international stage. The report has claimed an offer in the region of €25m (£21.6m) is likely to be accepted. Itō’s versatility is appealing to Bayern Munich, but his medical record is an issue. Moreover, while Itō has been solid for the Bavarians, his performances have not really gone above anything, but “solid.” If there is a good offer on the table, Bayern Munich might consider it.

Juve eyeing Stiller (Tuttosport)

Juventus might try to striker early and get former Bayern Munich academy star and current VfB Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller:

It’s best to act quickly to prevent the World Cup spotlight from skyrocketing his value, opening the door to a wild international bidding war with millions of euros in bids. This is a danger that must be avoided at all costs. That’s why, towards the end of May, Juventus will be trying to fully understand the conditions before making an immediate move for Angelo Stiller.

Leipzig set to extend Diomande? (ESPN)

RB Leipzig appears to be in a good place with the situation surrounding Yan Diomande. RBL will either sell Diomande for a mint or retain him and reap the rewards of his performances in the future:

Liverpool could miss out on signing RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, according to transfer journalist Christian Falk. It is reported that the Bundesliga club are planning to hand the 19-year-old a new contract in the summer, which would increase his salary while also adding a release clause, with the belief that he could stay put for one more season. Diomande, who has directly contributed to 19 goals in 30 league matches this season, has been linked to Anfield as a potential future replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Lewandowski decision expected soon (ESPN)

FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski could be close to deciding what might be next for him:

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is in talks with both Juventus and AC Milan, according to Diario Sport. It is believed that the 37-year-old is set to make a decision on his future in the next few days, and he is expected to sign an extension with Barça if a move to either Serie A club doesn’t materialize. He has no interest in making a switch to MLS or the Saudi Pro League. Sources told ESPN on Monday that Barça have made contact with Atletico Madrid regarding a deal for forward Julián Álvarez, who is seen as Lewandowski’s potential long-term replacement. Clearly, the former Bayern Munich star has options, but it all likely depends on two things — location and money.
