ESPN's Aaron Schatz suggests the Chicago Bears may need to upgrade their slot receiver position after trading DJ Moore. Despite having talent like Rome Odunze and Luther Burden, the Bears' wide receiver room could still benefit from additional depth.

The Chicago Bears did subtract from their wide receiver room this offseason when they traded DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills.
They still have high-end talent to catch passes from Caleb Williams, led by Rome Odunze and Luther Burden.
But maybe there's still a need, with ESPN's Aaron Schatz writing in a new article on Thursday that the slot receiver spot could use an upgrade in Chicago.
"The Bears use a lot of two tight-end sets," Schatz writes. "However, they still were in 11 personnel 52% of the time last season, so they need to have a third starting receiver to go withĀ Rome OdunzeĀ andĀ Luther Burden III. Right now, that's veteranĀ , but Raymond is 31 and has had less than 300 yards in each of the past two seasons. The other alternative is third-round rookieĀ Zavion Thomas."

Schatz then goes on to suggest an alternative: Deebo Samuel.
"Deebo Samuel would be a really interesting free agent signing here," Schatz writes.
Samuel is one of a number of veteran players who are still free agents at the receiver position. That list also includes the likes of Jauan Jennings, Stefon Diggs and the unrelated Curtis Samuel.
Deebo is coming off a season with the Washington Commanders in which he was mostly solid even as the Commanders struggled.
If he moved to Chicago, he'd go from the 2024 NFL Draft's No. 2 overall pick, Jayden Daniels, to the first pick in that draft, Williams.
It seems like Samuel still has plenty to offer if he could join a WR depth chart that already includes Odunze and Burden. It'd make for a strong group, one that could help Chicago contend for big goals.
