After a successful 2025 season, the Chicago Bears saw a lot of roster turnover this offseason, which has led to a new-look roster.
For the most part, the offense is roughly the same, other than the departure of DJ Moore. But, on defense, there's a lot of change. Dillon Thieneman and Coby Bryant are new safeties, while Devin Bush is replacing Tremaine Edmunds.
However, as Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report projected the Bears' starting defense, there is one clear issue, though, fortunately, the fix for this issue is fairly easy.
"Somewhat surprisingly, the Bears didn't add any edge rusher help in the offseason," Davenport writes.
The main issue with the Bears' starting defense is related to roster changes that have created a gap in performance, but the solution to this issue is considered straightforward.

That lack of edge rusher addition has led to Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo to be the starters along the edge this upcoming season.
Sweat as a starter is perfectly fine, but the Bears relying on Odeyingbo coming off a serious injury is going to be a tough sell.
Their depth right now isn't great either, with Daniel Hardy and Austin Booker being mediocre at-best rotation edge options.
Fortunately, the fix is easy: the Bears can sign a free agent. Joey Bosa, Haason Reddick, Leonard Floyd, Denico Autry, Von Miller, Cameron Jordan, A.J. Epenesa, Kyle Van Noy, Derek Barnett, Jaevon Clowney, or one of the many others still in free agency.
While a trade for someone like Maxx Crosby would be the most fun, in reality, the Bears are better-off signing one of the top free agent edge rushers.
Bosa, Miller, and Jordan are the three who stand out as the best options for the Bears this offseason. They can all provide pass rush upside and have plenty of experience to aid a shaky DL.
