The Chicago Bears traded away DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills this offseason, and didn't go out and make a significant investment to replace him in the offense.
That has left open a door for a new wide receiver or two to not just make the roster, but earn significant playing time this upcoming season.
After the 2026 NFL Draft, Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com reported that Chicago had signed a few of their draft picks, including WR Zavion Thomas, and a lot of undrafted free agents, one of whom has the unique name of "Squirrel White."
Squirrel White is a wide receiver out of Florida State. He's 5-foot-9, 177 pounds, and has plenty of experience in college.
"Played in 48 games past four seasons at Tennessee (2022-24) and Florida State (2025), catching 136 passes for 1,717 yards and six TDs," Mayer writes.
Squirrel White is an undrafted free agent wide receiver signed by the Chicago Bears to fill the gap left by DJ Moore's departure.
Squirrel White's signing provides an opportunity for him to compete for a roster spot and significant playing time in the Bears' offense.
In addition to Squirrel White, the Bears signed several undrafted free agents and draft picks, including WR Zavion Thomas.

Back in 2023 with Tennessee, White posted his best season with 803 yards receiving with two touchdowns on 67 receptions. This past season, he caught just five passes for 52 yards.
White is an undrafted free agent and will get the chance to fight for a roster spot this summer and into the preseason.
But the question one naturally comes to with White is why he is named "Squirrel." Well, as Mayer notes, White's grandmother nicknamed him "Squirrel" for how a younger White "imitated the movement of a squirrel in her garden..."
It's a fun signing for the Bears, as it's a different body type for the receivers they have on the roster, and of course, it's one of the more unique names across all of professional sports.
