Benoit Saint-Denis just teased his return to action this summer, and he basically gave away the opponent too if you know your French slang.
Saint-Denis is on an impressive four fight win streak at 155 pounds and currently sits at No. 5 in the rankings. It’s been a minute since he’s fought, though, with the last victory coming against Dan Hooker back in January. Now it looks like the former French Army special forces soldier could be returning at UFC 329 against Paddy Pimblett.
In a new Instagram video made with AI, Benoit looks over a restaurant menu portraying his former opponents as burgers he’s eaten: Le Ruffy (Brazilian beef with salsa), Le Dariush (a beef which has never seen light of day), Le Hooker (fine carpacio beef pounded thin). Then the menu shows what’s next: ‘Le Rosbeef’ aka roast beef.
What the hell is Benoit Saint-Denis implying? A bit of cultural understanding of the British and French is needed here. Roast beef is such a popular British dish that one of the slang names France uses for U.K. people is ‘les rosbifs.’ It works as an insult on multiple levels: some French say it’s because Brits are so thick and fat, others say it’s because British tourists turn pink and red like roast beef in the European sun.
However you wanna slice it, the clear message from BSD is he’s fighting a Brit next. And when you look at the rankings at lightweight and who’s available, there’s really only one Brit that makes sense: Paddy Pimblett.
Pimblett just revealed on a BBC soccer show that he’s back in training to fight at UFC 329. Right around the same time, Benoit Saint-Denis releases this video saying he’s going to feast on roast beef. That’s not 100% confirmation by any means, but we’re telling you now that Pimblett vs. Saint-Denis is looking pretty likely for the UFC’s big event on July 11th.
