Best amateurs in the 2026 Masters field? We ranked them

AUGUSTA, Ga. — There are six amateurs in the 2026 Masters field, but they are among the most important parts of the year's first major.

Whether it's the Amateur Dinner on Monday with Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley, staying in the Crow's Nest or being awarded the Silver Cup on Sunday, amateurs have been a big part of the storyline for every single Masters, and that won't change this year.

However, only one can win low amateur honors (and he must make the cut to do so). Here are the six amateurs in the field at the 2026 Masters, ranked.

Ranking the amateurs in 2026 Masters field

6. Brandon Holtz

The U.S. Mid-Amateur champion is more than double the age (41) of the two youngest players in the field. He's one of the most unlikely Masters competitors ever. But he also comes to Augusta National with more rust than anyone else.

5. Mateo Pulcini

Pulcini, the Latin America Amateur champion, hasn't played competitively since his big win. There will likely be signs of rust, too, but perhaps he can make a run.

4. Jackson Herrington

The man nicknamed "The Fridge" has a pair of top-10 finishes for the Tennessee Volunteers this season but also has four finishes outside of the top 25. Perhaps his practice rounds with Bryson DeChambeau can give him some good tips for navigating Augusta National.

3. Mason Howell

The U.S. Amateur champion looked up to Rory McIlroy growing up and gets to play alongside him the first two rounds at Augusta National. Talk about the memory of a lifetime.

2. Fifa Laopakdee

The Arizona State junior has one win this spring and another pair of top-10 finishes on the season. Loapakdee was the Asia-Pacific Amateur champion and is the first Thai amateur to compete in the Masters.
