Texas A&M lost 18-11 to Mississippi State in a series opener, marking a record for runs allowed in an inning since joining the SEC. The Aggies' pitching struggles continue as they face a must-win situation in the upcoming games.
The pitching woes continued for Texas A&M in its 18-11 series-opening loss to Mississippi State at Blue Bell Park on Thursday night. Typically, scoring 11 runs in an SEC contest equates to a win, but not for the Aggies. Jason Kelly's pitching staff gave up the most runs in a single inning since Texas A&M joined the conference in 2012. To make matters worse, the loss was tied for the most runs allowed this season, which came in an 18-5 run-rule loss to Auburn on May 2. Needless to say, the bullpen has much work to do moving forward. With postseason play right around the corner, it is make-or-break for the pitchers on the roster to step up and provide consistency on the mound for the Aggies. If Texas A&M drops the series to the Bulldogs on Friday, it will be the end of the team's hopes of being a national seed. The Aggies will aim to avoid dropping their third straight SEC series, as they face Mississippi State in Game 2 at Blue Bell Park on Friday. First pitch against the Bulldogs is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on SEC Network+. Barring a miraculous Texas A&M comeback, Texas should wake up tomorrow morning all by itself in second place in the SEC.

Plenty good enough from the Aggie offense tonight as they put up double digit runs and churn out 13 hits.
That should win you a bunch of games.
Really poor night for A&M on the mound, and the loss puts them in a must-win scenario the next 2 days to hold on to Top 8 hopes

Boot a ground ball Let a fly ball drop in front of you Don't make an accurate throw to first
Not a great formula

When you score 11 runs in a Top 15 SEC battle you just have to win that game
Incredibly frustrating night

Get a new pitching coach next year and send this thing to the moon
The offense is more than good enough to make a run at the title. The pitching on the other hand…
