Texas A&M baseball won 9-7 against Tarleton in a competitive game, overcoming a 7-5 deficit. Key performances included Nico Partida's clutch hitting and Caden Sorrell's home runs.
Texas A&M baseball prevailed over a scrappy Tarleton club on Tuesday night, securing a 9-7 win in a back-and-forth slugfest with the Texans in Bryan-College Station. With a firm grasp of first place in the WAC and non-conference victories over Baylor and No. 2 Texas on its resumé, Tarleton entered Olsen Field with its sights set on toppling another college baseball giant. The Texans had a 7-5 lead over the Aggies entering the bottom of the sixth, but freshman infielder Nico Partida came through with a two-out, two-RBI double to tie the game. In his first appearance for Texas A&M in 37 games, second baseman Sawyer Farr gave Texas A&M an 8-7 advantage with his heads-up base running to capitalize on Tarleton's wild pitch. Partida notched an insurance run with an RBI single following Farr and right-hander Clayton Freshcorn secured his 10th save of the season, which ties him at sixth for most saves in a single season in program history. During the chaos of the battle against Tarleton, outfielder Caden Sorrell had an excellent night at the plate, recording his fourth multi-home run performance of the season. His 20th home run of 2026 in the bottom of the fifth puts him in second place for most homers in the SEC this season. There is no rest for the weary, however. The Aggies have a top-10 showdown incoming against No. 8 Auburn this weekend. Following their recent series win over No. 9 Oklahoma, the Tigers boast a 30-13 (12-9 in SEC play) record entering College Station.
