Juventus took control of the game in the opening minutes, forcing Hellas Verona onto the defensive. The first chance came from a dangerous cross by Chico Conceicao, which Lloyd Kelly met with a header that Montipo saved with ease.

The Bianconeri pressed on and tried their luck from distance with Manuel Locatelli, whose shot from the edge of the box went just wide.
