Most Chelsea fans would love this to happen and love Alonso to become their next head coach, but I think the majority are just not going to be sucked into it and are failing to believe it will ever happen.
However, Alonso HAS been interviewed for the role, according to a reliable journalist this lunchtime.
In quotes picked up by SPTC today, reliable reporter Julien Laurens says:
āThey [Chelsea] have gone through the process of speaking to those managers [on the shortlist], not fully interviewing them, in the sense of, like there have been chats, and then some of them have presented already their project to the club, and what they would do, like Xabi Alonzo, for example, who apparently was quite impressive to the people that interviewed him.ā
Alonso is being linked more and more with the Chelsea job recently, and one journalist is now saying heās the āmain targetā for the Blues. Itās pretty clear Chelsea want him as the priority.
Alonso would have the authority to command a dressing room at Chelsea, a key ingredient for the new manager. This helps make him the standout candidate for the head coach role at Stamford Bridge.
