The Big Countryâs top high school baseball and softball teams stood out with dominant performances, where several of the areaâs biggest stars put on dazzling displays and showed off their playmaking abilities.

Landry Barron, Cross Plains softball
Barron helped propel the Lady Buffs past Hermleigh in the regional semifinals of the 1A UIL Softball Playoffs by going 4-for-6 at the plate with six RBIs, two runs scored, three walks, a double and a home run.
Mia Clemmer, Coahoma softball
Clemmer put on a hitting clinic during the Bulldogettesâ three-game regional semifinals series against Holliday, going 8-for-14 at the plate with 10 RBIs, two runs scored, a sac fly, a hit-by-pitch, two home runs and a double.
Carson Cochran, Cisco baseball
Cochran stood out with his performance on the mound in Ciscoâs 2-0 win over Forsan in Game 1 of their best-of-three area round series, tossing seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts, one hit and one walk allowed.
Aubrey Corpus, Cisco softball
Corpus pitched every inning of the Lady Loboesâ regional semifinals sweep of Abernathy, tallying 11 strikeouts, 15 hits, 11 walks and five earned runs allowed in 14 innings pitched. She also found a groove at the plate, racking up seven RBIs, a run scored, two doubles and a home run on 7-for-8 hitting.
Avie Faries, Abilene Wylie softball
Faries was dominant in the circle and pitched every inning of the Lady Bulldogsâ regional semifinals sweep of Joshua in the 5A DII UIL Softball Playoffs. She racked up 18 strikeouts, seven hits, three walks and one earned run allowed through 14 innings pitched.
George Ferguson, Abilene High baseball
Ferguson was electric on the mound in Abilene Highâs runaway 10-0 win over El Paso Americas in Game 1 of their best-of-three area round series, firing five scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts, no hits and one walk allowed. He also went 3-for-9 at the plate with three RBIs, a run scored, a walk, a double and a home run for the series.

Kaylee Gonzalez, Abilene High softball
Gonzalez helped the Lady Eagles rally to knock off Richland in the regional semifinals of the 5A DI UIL Softball Playoffs, tallying two RBIs, three runs scored, a double, a home run and three walks on 2-for-6 hitting during the three-game series. She also appeared in the circle, finishing the week with three strikeouts, one hit and one walk allowed through 2â shutout innings.
Alek Hernandez, Stamford baseball
Hernandez pitched a gem in Game 1 of the Bulldogsâ area round series against McCamey, tossing a complete game shutout that included one strikeout, two walks and two hits allowed. He also went 3-for-6 at the plate with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored.
Derrick Lechuga, Hamlin baseball
Lechuga powered the Pied Pipers to a runaway 12-2 win over Hermleigh in the area round of the 1A UIL Baseball Playoffs, going 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs, three runs scored, a double, a walk and a stolen base.
Bree Lewis, Coahoma softball
Lewis clobbered opposing pitchers in Coahomaâs three-game regional semifinals series against Holliday in the 3A DII UIL Softball Playoffs. She racked up 10 RBIs, eight runs scored, two home runs and a walk on 8-for-15 hitting.
Aubrey Malcuit, Cisco softball
Malcuit caught fire at the plate during the Lady Loboesâ sweep of Abernathy in the regional semifinals of the 2A DI UIL Softball Playoffs, accounting for seven RBIs, four runs scored and two triples, a double and a home run on 6-of-8 hitting.
Brody Oliver, Albany baseball
Oliver was spectacular for the Lions at the plate during their area round series against Eldorado, recording four RBIs, a run scored, four walks, a hit-by-pitch and seven stolen bases on 4-for-6 hitting. He also pitched a complete game in Game 1 of the series, tallying eight strikeouts, six walks, one hit and zero earned runs allowed.
Brenner Paul, Abilene High baseball
Paul tallied five RBIs and a home run on 4-for-8 hitting in Abilene Highâs three-game area round series against El Paso Americas in the 5A DI UIL Baseball Playoffs.
Blakely Rodgers, Coahoma softball
Rodgers caught fire during the Bulldogettesâ three-game regional semifinals series versus Holliday, posting 10 RBIs, nine runs scored, five walks, two doubles, a triple, a home run, a stolen base and a sac fly on 6-for-10 hitting.

Aiden Shank, Gordon baseball
Shank shined during the Longhornsâ area round sweep of Milford, racking up seven RBIs, a run scored, a walk and three doubles on 3-for-7 hitting. He also collected a win and a save after making two appearances on the mound, recording 12 strikeouts, one walk and zero hits allowed through 4â innings pitched.
Brody Stice, May baseball
Stice had a monster area round series against Ira that included clubbing a walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th inning in Game 1 of the series. He wrapped up the week with five RBIs, two runs scored, a double, a walk and a stolen base on 3-for-10 hitting.
Hudson Tulley, Abilene Wylie baseball
Tulley was virtually unstoppable at the plate during the Bulldogsâ lopsided area round sweep of El Paso Burges in the 5A DII UIL Baseball Playoffs, totaling six RBIs, four runs scored, a home run and a double on 4-for-8 hitting. He also pitched three scoreless innings with nine strikeouts compared to zero walks or hits allowed.
Colby Walker, Coahoma baseball
Walker pitched a gem for the Bulldogs in Game 1 of their area round series versus Childress in the 3A DII UIL Baseball Playoffs, recording six strikeouts, four hits and no walks through seven shutout innings on the mound. He also went 3-for-6 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored for the series.
Ben Wetzig, Goldthwaite baseball
Wetzig helped the Eagles rally and win back-to-back games to beat Dallardsville Big Sandy in the area round of the 2A DII UIL Baseball Playoffs. In Game 2 of the series, he pitched a complete game shutout posting four strikeouts, three hits and one walk allowed through seven scoreless innings of work.
Paige Wilson, Tuscola Jim Ned softball
Wilson powered the Lady Indians past Shallowater in their three-game regional semifinals series in the 3A DI UIL Softball Playoffs, tallying three RBIs, three doubles and a sac fly on 4-for-8 hitting. She also made multiple appearances in the circle for Jim Ned, recording eight strikeouts, 14 hits, four walks and three earned runs allowed through 11 innings pitched.
