The Buffalo Bills lost David Edwards in free agency and have yet to adequately replace him.
If the season were to start today, the Bills would have Alec Anderson starting at left guard. The problem with that is Anderson has been a backup the past two years and posted a putrid 41.3 pass-blocking grade in 2025, per Pro Football Focus.
We figured general manager Brandon Beane would spring for a guard at some point during the 2026 NFL Draft, but that never came to fruition. Instead, he added Jude Bowry, who could switch to guard in the NFL but played at tackle in college.
Neither Anderson nor Bowry are sufficient for a Bills team with Super Bowl aspirations, so the signing of a veteran in free agency should be in the cards.

2025 marked the first time since 2018 that Joel Bitonio failed to make a Pro Bowl appearance, and 2026 might mark the first time he plays for a team that isn’t the Browns. He’ll turn 35 years old in October, but he could still provide some veteran leadership for a team’s interior offensive line.
Bitonio is long in the tooth at 34 years old, but he's still got plenty left in the tank.
In 2025, Bitonio notched Pro Football Focus grades of 75.7 in pass-blocking and gave up just two sacks and 31 pressures, and he had a 64.4 in run-blocking.
The veteran has also been incredibly durable, as Bitonio has only missed more than two games in a season twice his entire career.
The fact that Bitonio is still available is shocking because he is no doubt a quality starting offensive lineman and those are always in high demand.
Perhaps that means he's thinking about retirement, but if the seven-time Pro Bowler does intend on playing in 2026, Buffalo should be all over signing him.
