The last name probably sounded familiar.
The Buffalo Bills signed Ja'Mori Maclin as an undrafted free agent on Saturday after the conclusion of the 2026 NFL Draft.
He's related to long-time NFL receiver Jeremy Maclin, who starred for the Eagles and then the Chiefs in an injury-shortened career.
They are cousins.
Ja'Mori is a wide receiver as well, out of Kentucky. He's known as Jay Maclin for short.
He spent his college career at three stops: Missouri, North Texas and then Kentucky.
He hardly played at Mizzou, then didn't break out until his second season at North Texas, when he had 57 catches for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Maclin only had 13 catches apiece in each of his two years at Kentucky.
In 10 games in 2025, it was just 13 grabs for 189 yards.
He only returned three punts, as well, so this is really betting on genetics and projection.
That North Texas season was so impressive, but Maclin hardly got the ball at UK.
The Bills clearly believe there's more in the tank. They signed him so quickly after the draft's conclusion.
It'll be interesting to see if he can chase a roster spot despite being a limited player in his two seasons in the SEC.
