One of Iowa's top priorities in the 2027 class announced his commitment to an SEC foe.
Jake Nawrot, the nation's No. 2 quarterback in the 2027 class per Rivals, announced his pledge to Kentucky and to new Wildcats head coach Will Stein on Sunday.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound signal-caller was offered by the Hawkeyes in January and recently took a visit to Iowa City. But, it's Stein and the Wildcats that win this recruiting battle.
Rivals' Steve Wiltfong had logged an expert prediction for the Hawkeyes to land Nawrot back in late February before the trajectory of Nawrot's recruitment turned Wildcat blue.
Iowa will now turn its attention elsewhere in the 2027 class. Iowa offensive coordinator Tim Lester and the Hawkeyes recently offered Brayden Santibanez, another 2027 signal-caller out of Tennessee.
