The Toronto Blue Jaysā injuries haven't stopped, and the hope and expectation is that at some point, a lot of this will look different than what it currently does.
As things stand at the moment, maybe the Blue Jays have been one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball, though it's almost impossible to get upset about it considering the injuries they've dealt with on both sides of the ball.
At 10-13, Toronto hasn't put itself in a horrible spot, but it will need to get healthy. According to the words from George Springer, the star outfielder who is currently sidelined with a toe injury, it sounds like he could be back rather soon.
"I mean, I donāt really put expectations on it. Iāve just expected it to hurt," Springer said on Tuesday. "Iām not going into it thinking itās going to feel good, and then when it hurts, I just get angry about it. Itās a broken bone. So, you know, not much I could do besides just say, āScrew it, is what it is.ā"
Regarding when Springer could be back, it was reported that the veteran might be targeting a Friday return, which would be a home game in the first contest of a three-game set against the Cleveland Guardians.
āWhile a Friday return remains the optimistic target, Springer is finding ways to navigate the mental frustration of being sidelined by staying as active as possible within the clubhouse,ā Courtney Hollmon of MLB.com wrote.
Springer, despite being older in his career now, is still a very good player and somebody Toronto needs back as soon as possible.
George Springer has indicated that he could return soon, though he has not set specific expectations for his recovery.
Injuries have significantly impacted the Blue Jays, contributing to their current record of 10-13 and making them one of the worst teams in Major League Baseball.
Springer mentioned that he is not putting expectations on his recovery and is accepting the pain from his broken toe as part of the process.
