"[Freddy] Peralta can serve as the cherry on top."
Peralta, playing on an expiring contract with the New York Mets after an offseason trade, is one of the more durable starters in the Majors and is off to a solid start with his new NL club, posting a 3.12 ERA in his first eight starts.
But the Mets are floundering, and 670 The Score's Bruce Levin reports that they've already engaged in trade discussions with the Chicago Cubs surrounding Peralta.

"Toronto's ability to compete on the open market in free agency — while building upon their foundation as reigning AL champs — makes it a real, viable destination."
The Blue Jays could also negotiate a long-term extension with Peralta, something the Mets have done unsuccessfully.
