The Toronto Blue Jays may be in a bit of a pickle when all of their outfielders return to full health.
With four left-handed-hitting outfielders, Toronto could opt to trade one of them at the deadline. Switch-hitter Anthony Santander is also going to return at some point this season after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder.
For those reasons, FanSided's Zachary Rotman has tabbed a 31-year-old who made his Major League debut in 2023 as the odd man out.
"Nathan Lukes was finally getting going following his massive early-season slump before suffering a hamstring injury that's expected to sideline him through late May at the earliest," Rotman wrote. "Once Lukes is healthy, are we sure the Jays will have a spot for him?"
Lukes enjoyed a breakout season in 2025, hitting 12 home runs with a .730 OPS and an impressive 13.7% strikeout rate while playing superb defense. But a crunch could force him off Toronto's roster.

"[Daulton] Varsho plays every day, and when they were all healthy to begin the year, [Addison] Barger and [Jesus] Sanchez ranked above Lukes on the totem pole," Rotman added. "Maybe that'll change because Lukes was hot before his injury and Sanchez hasn't been great lately, but Lukes looks like their fourth-best left-handed hitting outfielder, meaning there isn't much of a use for him."
It can be argued that Barger projects as the better player long-term than Lukes. He certainly has more power, is five years younger, and can also play third base.
