We have a new transfer portal target to monitor, as Washington State point guard Jerone Morton will visit Lexington on Friday, according to Travis Branham of 247 Sports.
A Lexington native who played at George Rogers Clark, Morton was an unranked class of 2023 recruit who signed with Morehead State. After two seasons, the 6-foot-4, 180-pounder transferred to Washington State.
This past season, Morton averaged 7.8 points on 43.8% shooting (38.7% on 3-pointers), 2.6 assists, and 1.9 rebounds across 25 minutes per game.
In two games vs. Gonzaga, Morton scored a combined 31 points on 10/18 shooting (5/9 from deep) to go with six total assists vs. two turnovers.
Morton is not currently among the top 300 transfer portal prospects at On3, while 247 Sports ranks him 310th overall and 58th among point guards.
