Bo Nix was spotted at the Masters alongside NFL QB Drake Maye, looking healthy as they enjoyed the event. Legendary broadcaster Jim Nantz noted the presence of several NFL players at Augusta National Golf Club.
Although football activities have yet to begin for the Denver Broncos, legendary broadcaster Jim Nantz was surprised to see a bunch of NFL players at another awesome sporting event, the Masters, over the weekend.
"There are a lot of NFL guys hanging around Augusta (National Golf Club)," Nantz said during in an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday*.* "I don't know how they're all getting in. I ran into Drake Maye. I ran into Bo Nix, who looked very healthy here."
McAfee responded in disbelief. "Bo Nix was walking that place?" asked McAfee. "Bo Nix was walking around Augusta?"
Nantz responded in the affirmative. "He was walking around, and it was fascinating; Bo and Drake took the whole Augusta experience in together. And you said it earlier, the undulation, the grade at Augusta, it is up and down more than anyone could ever imagine. So Bo and Drake spent a couple of days [together]."
The two quarterbacks have a history of friendship, dating all the way back to before the 2024 NFL draft. Ahead of the Super Bowl in February, Maye wished Nix a speedy recovery following the QB's season-ending foot injury.
The Masters is one of the most coveted tickets in sports, to one of the most elusive multi-day events anywhere in the United States. Its challenging scenery isn't just treacherous for golfers — it is a real experience for the fans, who also navigate the rolling hills of Augusta National.
Nix is not the only Bronco with connections to Augusta, as Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning is a member of the famed golf club.
To hear that Nix endured a walk up and down the hills of the Masters is an encouraging sign, and one that confirms Nix is back ahead of schedule in his recovery from a fractured ankle. Nix doesn't have to worry about physical ups and downs on a flat football surface, but the physical challenge of Augusta just proves Nix will be back in time for the 2026 season.
Barring any other appearances together, Nix and Maye will next see each other during the 2026 season, when Denver travels to Foxboro in a rematch of the 2025 AFC Championship, a matchup which is sure to get top billing across the country.
