Caitlin Clark is not viewing this as just the beginning of another new season. Think about it more like a reset with intent. The upcoming WNBA tip-off is just days away and the Indiana Fever star is already making her presence felt. After a preseason that gave fans flashes of what’s to come, Clark took a moment to check in with her audience by sharing a glimpse of her journey so far and what lies ahead. While the post generated excitement, it was the reaction that stood out. Fans did not simply respond, they read between the lines.
Clark recently took to Instagram to share a collection of seven photos from media day and preseason action, showing her suited up in Indiana Fever gear. She captioned that post with, “Year 3!!! See you all soon ❤️🔥.”
So among the many comments under that post, her boyfriend Connor McCaffery summed up the moment perfectly with just four words: “Year 3 is crazy.”
But it wasn’t the only big-name reaction. Even LeBron James jumped into the comments with an energetic, “LFG!!!!!!!! 💪🏾,” while several of Clark’s teammates joined in, echoing the same excitement around her return.
But while there were many big names in her comments, McCaffery’s one hits differently. Because for him, it’s not just about another season, it’s about the journey.
The two first crossed paths at the University of Iowa, where Clark was rewriting record books for the Hawkeyes women’s team while McCaffery played for the men’s program under his father, Fran McCaffery.
Since then, their relationship has grown steadily in the public eye, with McCaffery consistently showing up for the biggest moments in Caitlin Clark’s career. From college dominance to her rise as one of the WNBA’s biggest stars, he’s been right there through it all. So his reaction wasn’t just a comment; it was a reflection of how far she has come.
After being limited to just 13 games in 2025 due to a groin injury, Clark’s latest post feels like a statement. It’s a signal that she’s back to full strength and ready to take over the league again. And if preseason is any indication, she looks ready.

Across three games, Clark averaged 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4 assists, showing flashes of the same presence that made her one of the league’s most talked-about players. There was a brief scare when she landed awkwardly in one of the games and had to exit early, but she bounced back quickly and dropped 13 points in her next outing.
And that’s exactly what Indiana needs heading into her “Year 3,” where she will get the chance to take revenge in the very first game.
Just seven days after a clash between the Indiana Fever and the Dallas Wings, both these franchises will be right back at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. And for Clark & Co., this time will be about responding.
Because the last time they met, Dallas walked away with a 95–80 win.

That said, even in that game, Clark showed exactly why all the attention is on her. She dropped 21 points in just 16 minutes by scoring efficiently and controlling stretches of the game without needing a heavy run. It wasn’t enough to flip the result, but it was a reminder of why she is considered one of the best.
But that doesn’t change the fact that Dallas looks dangerous this year.
Paige Bueckers led the way with 20 points, and it doesn’t help knowing that the Wings also added Azzi Fudd to their roster. Bueckers and Fudd have been playing together since their college days, so their chemistry can be a huge problem for Caitlin Clark and the Fever.
But here’s the thing: if the Fever can work on the mistakes they made in the last game, it will be hard for them not to win.
The absence of key pieces on their team left them with less depth, especially defensively, where they gave up 50 points in the paint. That’s where Aliyah Boston and Tyasha Harris become critical.
But with Boston and Harris back on the team, this won’t be the same Indiana team Dallas saw just a week ago.
The Fever gave up 50 points in the paint last season. So her ability to protect the rim and stay physical in the paint will be very useful for this franchise. So make sure to tune in on May 9th to witness the clash of the greats.
