The Boston Celtics were eliminated in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, and Brad Stevens spoke about what the team needs to do better to make a deeper run next season.
The Celtics relied heavily on the three-point shot this season. They shot the fourth most threes in the league, and while it worked out for them in the regular season, Stevens thought the team did not get enough good looks against the 76ers. Specifically, he thinks the team needs to find a way to have a bigger impact at the rim.
âMy general feeling watching us play in really each of the last two playoffs â the second round against New York, even against Orlando in the first round (last year) â was we had a hard time generating really good looks on that first shot,â Stevens said on Wednesday. âSo weâve got to figure out a way to do better in that, and I think that one of the things that weâve got to figure out is how to have more of an impact at the rim. And I think we do need to add to our team to do that.â
Well, the talk of the summer may be Giannis Antetokounmpo, and if Stevens thinks the Celtics need to add a player to make an impact at the rim, there are few better players than Antetokounmpo in the NBA to do that. Trade rumors involving Giannis have been circulating for over a year, and the Celtics a team to watch in the Giannis trade sweepstakes on Monday.
Brad Stevens highlighted that the Celtics relied too much on three-point shooting and needed to improve their offensive impact at the rim.

Stevens is not scared of making big moves, and if Giannis is truly on the trade block, the Celtics make sense as a landing spot. Stevens already said that the Celtics may need to add to their team to make a bigger impact at the rim.
Antetokounmpo is a 10-time All-Star, two-time MVP and nine-time All-NBA selection. He is a tremendous defender and can certainly make an impact at the rim like Stevens wants, and then some. The Celtics may have to break up their duo of Brown and Tatum to make it happen, but Giannis and Tatum would be one of the best duos in all of basketball.
