Brady Tkachuk has been in NHL trade rumors for the last few seasons. After struggling to make the playoffs to start Tkachukâs career, the Ottawa Senators have made it in back-to-back years. However, the rumors havenât died down, and the popular NHL forward has been linked to a surprising NHL organization if he demanded a trade from the Senators.
The New York Rangersâ interest in Tkachuk is âvery realâ and if there is ever an inkling that Ottawa trades him, the organization would be involved, as reported by The Athleticâs Vince Mercogliano on The Flying V podcast. New York has the assets to acquire the 26-year-old forward, but is it a realistic possibility?

Tkachuk has been linked to several NHL organizations, including the Florida Panthers with his brother, Matthew Tkachuk. With two seasons left on his contract, Tkachuk could be looking to pick his next NHL destination, and New York may not be at the top of the list.
After all, the Rangers are tied for the second-worst record in the NHL. In January 2026, New York general manager Chris Drury released a letter to fans announcing a retooling of the team rather than a full rebuild. Tkachuk would be an outstanding addition, but he may not have the desire to join a non-playoff organization at this stage in his career.
The Ottawa star also has a full no movement clause, meaning he has to approve a trade to another NHL organization. This differs from when the Vancouver Canucks traded Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild, as the defenseman didnât have a no-trade clause his contract.
New York will likely be involved in the sweepstakes if Tkachuk demands a trade in the next two seasons. However, it wouldnât be up to the Rangers or the Senators if they agree to a deal.
