Rory McIlroy became only the fourth man in history to successfully defend The Masters on Sunday.
McIlroy lost a six-shot lead on Saturday at Augusta National and he actually began the final round of The Masters in shaky fashion.
However, the 36-year-old’s class shone through brightly in the end, as he won the tournament by one stroke from Scottie Scheffler.
After his Masters victory, McIlroy is now a six-time major champion and he is already one of the very best players to have ever graced the game.

It seemed like McIlroy had thrown The Masters away when he was one third of the way into his final round at Augusta National.
However, his class told in the end as he played his final 12 holes in three-under-par.
McIlroy’s win was a popular one at Augusta. However, he does sometimes receive criticism, especially in America.

Golf analyst Brandel Chamblee took to his official X account after McIlroy’s win at Augusta National on Sunday.
He passed a comment on what he made of the Northern Irishman’s conduct throughout the week at Augusta National.

Rory McIlroy continues sustained run of big-name major winners
Chamblee highlighted how McIlroy’s Masters win continued a very exciting theme in major championship golf over the past 14 years.
“I’m not sure golf has ever had a more sustained run of great players winning majors, with the average world rank of the last 56 major winners better than 15th in the world,“ Chamblee said.
“Looking forward to the rest of the major season.“
We seem to be in the midst of an era in golf where the big names win regularly and very few journeyman pros, if any at all, are able to compete.
The excitement value is through the roof in professional golf right now and the good thing is that it could be set to get even better over the next decade.
McIlroy’s win at The Masters on Sunday saw the run of big-name winners triumphing at major championships.
