Brandel Chamblee has taken to social media to heap praise upon Cameron Young after a controversial incident early on in his final round at the Cadillac Championship.
Unsurprisingly, Young got across the line relatively comfortably on Sunday at Doral. The 28-year-old began the day with a six-shot lead. And none of the chasing pack could make enough of a charge to set up a tense finish.
There was still some drama on Youngâs second hole of the day.
Young was just about to pull the trigger on his approach shot when he noticed his ball move ever so slightly.
He immediately called in an official. And while he believed that he did not cause the movement, he accepted the one-shot penalty that he subsequently received.

Remarkably, he still managed to make par on that hole.
It is always impressive whenever a player calls for a ruling that may lead to them receiving a penalty. It is hard to imagine that anyone would have noticed Youngâs ball move had he not said anything.
Obviously, it was helpful to Young that he already boasted a commanding lead. Nevertheless, Brandel Chamblee insisted that The Players Championship winner deserves a lot of credit.
He initially posted: âCameron Young accepting the penalty without protest at 2, then buries a putt for par. Quiet man. Loud example.â
Chamblee went on to add: â.â

It is surprising that more penalties are not dished out when you consider how many shots are being addressed each day during a tournament.
Many will remember how Sahith Theegala called a penalty on himself during the 2024 Tour Championship after believing that he had brushed the sand in the bunker with his club.
The replays did not come close to clearing up whether Theegala had actually touched the sand. However, he was adamant that it was the right thing to do as soon as he had his doubts.
Unfortunately for Theegala, his honesty did cost him as he finished two shots behind second place Collin Morikawa. But it was undoubtedly an extremely impressive act.
Young ensured that there could be no controversy surrounding his victory on Sunday at Doral. If anything, it made him an even more popular winner.
