Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke died in the San Fernando Valley on Monday, NBC4 reported. He was 29 years old.
The news of Clarke's death was then confirmed by the Memphis Grizzlies, NBA, Priority Sports and more on Tuesday afternoon.
While official details are not yet known, NBC4 reported that law enforcement is investigating Clarke's death as a possible overdose.

An official cause of death for Clarke has not yet been reported.
However, NBC4 reported that on Monday around 5 p.m. local time, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 911 call of a medical emergency in the San Fernando Valley. Upon paramedics' arrival, Clarke was declared dead.

Additionally, according to NBC4, "drug paraphernalia was found in the home," with the incident is being "investigated as a possible overdose." An autopsy will be done to officially determine the manner of Clarke's death.
In April, Clarke was arrested in Arkansas on charges for speeding, fleeing and possession of a controlled substance.
The 29-year-old had been in the NBA since 2019, when he was drafted 21st overall by the Thunder and traded to the Grizzlies.
