As Brandon Phillips prepares to become a Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer, the former second baseman, three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glover shared his thoughts via Twitter/X shortly after the team announced a ceremonial one-day contract that allows Phillips to officially retire as a Red on April 25.
"My career included stops in other cities and I loved my time with those clubs," Phillips tweeted. "But for me, y'all know DAMN well Cincinnati is my HOME. I love the city, my teammates, especially the FANS. I can finally say, I’m a RED4LIFE!"
Phillips hit .279 with 191 home runs, 851 RBIs, 1,774 hits, 311 doubles, 32 triples and 194 stolen bases in his 11 seasons with the Reds from 2006 to 2017.
In 2022, Phillips became the owner of a Women's Professional Fastpitch franchise in Dallas.
Phillips also was a player and co-owner of the Lexington Legends when the team won the Atlantic League in 2021.
