🚨 Breaking | Gervasoni also stands down, AIA calls meeting!

Italian football is going through a real earthquake triggered by the Milan Prosecutor’s investigation, which has put Gianluca Rocchi, the CAN refereeing appointor who has suspended himself, under investigation for sports fraud, along with Andrea Gervasoni, VAR supervisor.

Gervasoni suspends himself. The AIA calls a meeting

Andrea Gervasoni, ANSA reports, has suspended himself just like Rocchi, and the AIA, in total chaos, has called an emergency meeting since the body that appoints referees is now without an appointor. The statement is below.

"The AIA is urgently convening a National Committee to decide who will take Gianluca ROCCHI’s place, the Serie A and B refereeing appointor who suspended himself after being investigated by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office for aiding and abetting sports fraud.

In a statement, the Association said that this evening ROCCHI informed the deputy vice-president, Francesco Massini, of his decision, and that Andrea Gervasoni has also suspended himself from his role: he is VAR supervisor for Serie A and B CAN, and he too is under investigation as part of the Milan inquiry. For this reason, the AIA states, "the National Committee will be convened immediately to take the necessary measures."

Three 'cases'

There are three cases: the appointment for Bologna-Inter, the Coppa Italia final in the event Inter reached the last match, and the already well-known case of Rocchi’s intervention from behind the glass in the VAR room in Lissone during Udinese-Parma.
