As Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby's future college football eligibility hangs in the balance, his legal team is seeking to expedite the process.
ESPN reported last month that Sorsby is currently under investigation for placing bets on games involving his own team during his previous stint at Indiana. Sorsby is reportedly undergoing treatment for gambling addiction.
Although he is not currently under investigation for any criminal violations, Sorsby faces potential ineligibility under NCAA betting rules. Sorsby is fighting back, however, and according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger, his attorneys have requested an expedited resolution regarding Sorsby's eligibility for the 2026 season.
They also informed the NCAA that a legal challenge in Sorsby's favor is "imminent," per Dellenger.
Sorsby was one of the top quarterbacks in the transfer portal this past offseason after starting the last two seasons at Cincinnati. In 2025, he threw for 2,800 yards with 27 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also ran for 580 yards and nine touchdowns.
Expectations were high for Sorsby and the Red Raiders coming off a College Football Playoff season, but now, his future in Lubbock remains murky amid the NCAA investigation.
