Brevard WR, offensive POY Tristan Thompson-Wynn transfers to Roberson
Wide receiver Tristan Thompson-Wynn, the reigning All-WNC Offensive Player of the Year, is transferring to Roberson from Brevard for his senior season, Roberson coach JD Dinwiddie confirmed to the Citizen Times on April 27.
Thompson-Wynn was one of the state's best players at three positions last season, leading Brevard to its first state championship game since 1982, where it lost 50-20 to Reidsville.
Thompson-Wynn caught 81 passes for 1,450 yards, the second-best total in the state, and 20 touchdowns. He was a special teams threat, where scored three touchdowns on kickoff returns while averaging 31 yards on returns and had one punt return touchdown. Thompson-Wynn also played defensive back, where he had five interceptions, two pass deflections and 28 tackles.
He has received two college offers from East Carolina and FCS school Campbell.
Thompson-Wynn will become a top scoring threat on a Roberson team loaded with returning talent fresh off its first conference title since 2012.
Roberson will return nearly 4,000 all-purpose yards from 2025. The Rams' offense was powered by dual-threat quarterback Karod Harris and running back Mookah Simpson.
Roberson's seven leading tacklers return, including leading tackler Riddock Dinwiddie and Tariq Sibert, who had 31 tackles for loss. Thompson-Wynn will team up in the secondary with Kevion Holloway and his cousin, junior Chanten Wynn, whose two interceptions against Reynolds helped the Rams secure the conference title.
