Luis PeƱa, the Brewers' No. 3 prospect, is resuming baseball activities after collapsing in the dugout three weeks ago. He was hospitalized for overheating but has now been cleared to return to play.
Three weeks after collapsing in the dugout during a game, Luis PeƱa is resuming baseball activites.
PeƱa, the Milwaukee Brewers' No. 3 prospect in the Journal Sentinel's off-season rankings, has been absent from the lineup for the Class High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers ever since a scary incident April 22 in which he passed out in the team's dugout and the game was promptly ended.
The Brewers said PeƱa overheated and was released from the hospital the next morning after being administered fluids.
He later met with a neurologist on May 4, though the team did not provide details on the visit after it took place.
But the 19-year-old shortstop was not cleared to return to baseball activities until earlier this week, according to a statement by a club official May 15.
"He has begun a progression in Arizona that should put him in his first [Arizona Complex League] Brewers game as early as next weekend," a Brewers spokesperson said.

PeƱa has been placed on the 7-day injured list for Wisconsin, which will allow him to begin a rehab assignment in Arizona when he is ready.
That's encouraging news 23 days after PeƱa collapsed.
