The last time the two rivals met in Week 1 was in 2023 at MetLife Stadium, a 40-0 whitewashing that was as embarrassing as it sounds.
The Giants have turned their roster over considerably since that game. Only eight of their 22 starters from that game are still with the team.
One player who was not on the team back then, All-Pro outside linebacker Brian Burns, is already aware of the stakes in games against the Cowboys.
"[Expletive], I wasn't here for that, but 40-0, you know we're gonna hear a lot about that leading up to this one," Burns told NorthJersey.com and The Record on Monday night. "But, damn sure I'm gonna want to redeem it this time around. There's a lot of hype and hope around this season for us, and obviously, people have bought in. Now it's about making it happen."
He won't be alone. There is a new vibe in the building that has the ability to bury the past, and quickly. Call it the Harbaugh effect, but these are not the same old Giants teams from recent years. They plan on competing and winning, and just may have the right mix to realize those goals.
